Empowering Women in Real Estate: A Five-Year Reflection on What Moves Her

What Moves Her is celebrating a 5-year anniversary and to celebrated Anywhere Voices hosted a special episode highlighting the What Moves Her initiative and the rising role of women in real estate. The episode brought together an engaging panel of industry leaders – Lindsay Listanski, Leah Wright, Ginger Wilcox, and Rick Gregory – to reflect on the progress of women in the industry and chart a path forward. The discussion celebrated how far women have come, while acknowledging the work still ahead in empowering the next generation of female real estate professionals.

The Power of What Moves Her

The first panel features:

  • Lindsay Listanski, National VP of Field Marketing for Coldwell Banker and Chair of What Moves Her
  • Leah Wright, Director of Brand Marketing at Anywhere Real Estate

Together, they reflected on the growth and evolution of What Moves Her, an international community that uplifts and equips women at every stage of their careers. From new agents to aspiring executives, this initiative creates space for leadership, professional development, mentorship, and most importantly—confidence.

Leah recalls the early days when there were limited options for women-centric industry support. Their vision was to build a community, not just a council, that honors what drives each woman individually—hence the powerful and inclusive question behind the name: What moves her?

Impact in Numbers and Beyond

  • Thousands of women have joined the community
  • Hundreds of events, trainings, and podcasts hosted
  • Expansion into 10+ local communities, with more on the horizon (including international chapters)
  • A growing emphasis on wellness, vulnerability, and storytelling as leadership tools

Lindsay emphasized that the mission is just beginning. “We’re five years in — but we’re only five years in,” she said, noting the campaign’s momentum and future aspirations.

Expanding the Mission

The goal for the next five years? Broaden the reach:

  • Into the consumer space, especially among single women — now the second-largest group of homeowners
  • Across brands and industries, encouraging a brand-agnostic sisterhood of women supporting women in real estate and beyond

Panel Two: Big Picture with Industry Leaders

  • Ginger Wilcox, President and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate
  • Rick Gregory, CEO of Coldwell Banker Advantage in the Carolinas

Both leaders discussed their commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive cultures where women—and all agents—can thrive. Ginger emphasized Be Better University and mentorship for agents, as well as leveraging exclusive insights into women homebuyers to tailor marketing and services.

Rick shared how What Moves Her transformed his brokerage’s training and recruiting. By embracing wellness, personal growth, and balanced representation, his team has seen improved agent engagement, retention, and recruiting success. They’ve even expanded initiatives into the broader community, inspiring agents to lead local causes.

Navigating Change & Echo Chambers

A key theme throughout the episode was the importance of avoiding echo chambers. Leaders must continually seek diverse perspectives, reflect on how they’re showing up, and remain aware of evolving demographics—especially the growing influence of high-net-worth women and minority consumers.

Both Rick and Ginger encouraged brokers and leaders to:

  • Build systems of equity and accountability
  • Promote leadership development beyond just agents
  • Keep the door open for honest, inclusive conversations—even when national discourse suggests otherwise

Advice for Men and Allies

In response to a viewer question, Rick offered advice for men who want to support women without overstepping: show up, listen, and engage. The more inclusive events become, the better the learning and collaboration.

His advice: “What Moves Her” isn’t just for women—it’s about evolving personal and professional growth for everyone.

Final Thoughts

This powerful conversation reinforced that What Moves Her isn’t just an initiative, it’s a movement. As the industry continues to evolve, this community remains a critical space for growth, dialogue, and leadership.

Whether you’re a woman in real estate, an ally, or a consumer navigating your homeownership journey, this episode reminds us that progress doesn’t need permission—it needs purpose, support, and a shared vision.
